Location: Valletta
Description:
Situated right on the eastern edge of the capital city of Valletta, overlooking the majestic Grand Harbour, the Mediterranean Conference Centre was, for over two centuries, the Sacra Infermeria of the Knights of Malta. The Centre, with its special features, is truly unique. Away from the cluttered environment of high-rise meeting places and far from the din of endless traffic jams, the Mediterranean Conference Centre has all the benefits of ultramodern technology, set in an oasis of historical tranquillity.
The grand architectural style of the historic building of the Mediterranean Conference Centre, with its wide long halls, its intricately-vaulted ceilings and its rich stone work combine to provide a singularly rich and striking atmosphere.
It was constructed as a hospital in the late 16th century by the Order of the Knights of St John of Jerusalem, subsequently known as the Knights of Malta. This gorgeous building situated within the capital city, Valletta, overlooks the breathtaking Grand Harbour on the eastern side of the city.
